What counts as a favourable rate?

A currency is marked favourable when the amount bought per CAD is within 0.5% of its best rate over the past 90 calendar days, or at least 2% above its preceding 30-day average. A higher amount received per CAD is better.

This compares recent rates; it does not predict what happens next. Data more than four calendar days old is marked stale and cannot trigger a favourable-rate signal.

The website refresh is scheduled for weekdays around 2:15 PM Vancouver time. Publishing can be delayed. Holidays retain the last available fixing. Sound alerts run directly in this page while it stays open. Closing the page, putting your device to sleep, or browser background restrictions can stop checks and sound.

Appearance & display

The Bank of Canada publishes daily averages; checking more often does not make them live market quotes.

What counts as favourable

The same published rate never alerts twice. A new fixing can alert sooner if it improves another 1%. Data more than four days old cannot trigger an alert.

These settings update the webpage’s favourable labels and browser alerts. They compare history and do not predict future rates.

Sound alerts

Hear five clear chimes when a currency reaches a favourable rate. Everything happens here — no downloads or installation.

Sound alerts are off.

Keep this page open and your device awake. Closing the page stops alerts. Muted tabs, silent mode, and background restrictions can prevent sound — use Play sample to check your volume.
